FAQs

What's the difference between what you offer and a standard home carer?

A standard home carer provides practical support. Help around the house, personal care, companionship. Kath is a Registered Nurse, which means she can also administer medications, monitor and manage symptoms as they arise, and provide specialised nursing care at home. That clinical layer means clients can often remain at home through circumstances that would otherwise result in hospitalisation.

What's a typical visit like?

Visits depend entirely on what's needed that day. A visit might involve clinical care, help around the house, accompanying a client to a café, or simply good company. Kath is adaptable and practical, her primary focus is always on providing the right support to help clients remain as independent as possible, for as long as possible.

Is there a minimum visit length?

The standard minimum is two hours, though shorter visits can be arranged on request.

Can you help with end-of-life care at home?

Yes. This is Kath's primary area of expertise. Many people want to remain at home through end of life but lack the nursing support to make that possible. As a registered nurse, Kath can administer medications and manage all aspects of palliative care at home.

Do you only service the Wānaka area?

Kath is based in Wānaka and also services Hāwea and surrounding areas. For areas outside of Wānaka including Queenstown, Cromwell, and Alexandra, get in touch to discuss your situation.

How do I know if in-home nursing care is the right option?

If you or someone you love wants to remain at home through illness, recovery, or end of life, and needs more than a standard carer can provide. In-home nursing care is worth considering. The best first step is a conversation. Kath is happy to talk through your situation before any commitment is made.
